SIMPLE MACHINES

Look at the pictures and read the definitions of each of the simple machines.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and go to "Click Here" and take the simple machines quiz.

Go to the Simple Machines glossary.  On a separate sheet of paper, write the definition of Simple machines.

Draw a picture of each of the seven simple machines and label them.

 

Click on the tool man where it says "Click Here to Start."  Click on the House and learn about simple machines.  Go to the garage, kitchen, bathroom, and tool shed.  Take the quiz on each room.

Pick two Language Arts Activities about simple machines.  Pick a partner, and work on these together.

 

 

 

 

 

With a partner, go through the three online simple machine  lab activities.

 

 

 

Go to the Science Reporters Simple Machines.  Print out the report and follow all the directions. 

 

Go to the Simple Machines Construction Site.  Click on Work Schedule, and have fun!

Move through the lessons on the Rocks page.  Read the lesson about each rock and then click the next button.  Pick your favorite rock, draw a picture on it and tell me two sentences about your rock.

Go to The Great Plant Escape. Click on Case 1.  Read your mission and then click on Case Brief.  Read about your goals and ideas.   
              
Click on Facts of the Case.

 

Click on Plant Structure and write on a separate sheet of paper the definition of herbaceous and woody.  Close the plant glossary.

 

Click on Plant Parts and read about the taproot system and fibrous root system.  Write the definition of both and give an example of both root systems.

Click Stems and read about the stem.  Write down the two types of cells in the stem.

Click Leaves and read about the leaves.  Click on PhotosynthesisWhere does a plant gets its food from?  Where does a plant get its carbon dioxide from?  Where does a plant get its water from? Close the plant glossary.

Click Flowers and read about flowers.  Why are flowers important?  Why are the petals important?

Click Fruit and read about the fruit of a plant.  What covers a seed?

 

 

Click Growing Plants On your paper list the seven things a plant need to grow indoors. Click on Room to Grow.

1.  What happens when the roots get crowded?  Click Temperature.

2.  Most plants like temperatures like _________?  Click Light.

 

3.  Most plants like what kind of light? Click Water

4.  What three things help you decide when to water your plants?  Click Air.

 

5.  What three things can damage plants?  Click Nutrients.
